ABOUT US
We are the spirit of the Seychelles. We fill each bottle with the character of our 100 islands, our craft and our people. The result – a glimpse into our remote paradise. Born on these islands, made from these islands, and welcoming everything and everyone on the horizon to be a part of our journey. Including what we have yet to discover.
WHERE DO WE STARTS
Almost 20 years ago, we (two brothers) along with a bunch of support from our dad and aunt started what has become the number one spirit in our island home nation of Seychelles. It has been an honest rum journey but at the start of 2021 we are ready to leave our teenage years behind and head off into the world
Continuing to proudly pot distill with locally harvested freshly pressed cane and now producing our own molasses column rum plus a cask ageing program firmly underway, we are all set to expand our international footprint.
This will all be done from our historic home of La Plaine St Andre on the island of Mahe, Seychelles, where we continue to distill, age and bottle all our rums and is on the bucket list for every tourist visiting our shores.
What are we looking to do – our aspiration -is to be counted alongside all those other fantastic rum producing islands spread around the world. This drives us to want to share more of what the Seychelles, its people, its way of life and its rums are all about. We continue to honor traditions but also look to embrace the future. Believing in our liquid and very much working within our small bubble!
Our journey has already started and the embrace from globally renowned bars through to key regional retailers has been fantastic and a trend we continue to work hard to support and drive.
Appreciate your time and would love your feedback on whether it’s a journey we could continue together.
SEYCHELLES CANE RUM
When we first started making rum, there was little to no sugar cane grown in the Seychelles. Over the past 12 years we’ve worked with our local farmers boost their income by planting sugar cane in the forgotten corners of their lands. While vegetables and fruit grow best on flat land – which is limited on these mountainous islands – cane thrives in hilly and hard-to-reach places.
Today we have access to seven different types of cane which vary in colour from green to striped green and yellow to purple “kann rouge”, which is the most common one in the Seychelles. The cane that is grown here has distinct terroir notes from our unique granitic soil.
It’s delivered directly to our distillery where it’s crushed immediately. The green juice that’s produced (known as vesou) is rich with notes of raw sugar and flavours of peppery soil. After adding yeast, we ferment our vesou for about three days before triple distilling through our copper pot still and continuous column still.
We dilute the rum using our own mountain spring water before resting it for a year before we move it into barrels for our cask ageing program.
